Information on Lindir
Information on the earlier unnamed "Figwit" character
Note: It is canonically wishy-washy as to if the "Figwit" character and Lindir are one in the same. Because they do not contradict each other, I am incorporating life events of the unnamed "Figwit" character to supplement his history.
Born SA. 3009, to Lanthir (Father) and Nengaleth (Mother) Lindir grew up in Imladris (Rivendell), and became The Steward of Imladris after his parents sailed for the undying lands in year TA 1980. He took charge of Imladris in Elrond's stead while Elrond took part in the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. Lindir was present for some of Elrond's family life events, such as his marriage and the birth of his children.
Lindir was present when Thorin Oakenshield and his company were guests in Imladris, as they quested to take back Erebor from Smaug. It is clear he has met Mithrandir (Gandalf) on earlier visits.
He was also present for Bilbo's reading of the Song of Eärendil, just prior to the Council of Elrond. He was also there for the council itself, where the Fellowship of the Ring was formed. Later that year, just before the ring was destroyed, he set out for the Undying Lands with a group of Elves including Arwen, Elrond's daughter, and watched as she turned back. He continued on his way, and is assumed to have sailed into the west.
Personality:
It is likely that Lindir was both a bit sheltered growing up, and also not very far traveled outside of Imladris. As an adult, this is by choice. He prefers calm and quiet, and there is no better place to find tranquility than the valley.
Because of this, he also does not have much experience around the mortal races in general, unless on those rare occasions where they are guests of Elrond. This is supported by the fact that he mentions not being able to tell mortals apart in some ways, to Bilbo Baggins during his reading of the Song of Eärendil. As well as his inexperience around Dwarves. He also seems not to have an interest in the mortal races, either, indicated by saying "But mortals have not been our study. We have other business," to Bilbo.
That is not to say that he would simply ignore the mortal races, or be actively dismissive towards them. He does care about people in general, and is sympathetic towards those who are suffering in some way. As such, he's studied under Elrond to have basic skill with healing to help those in Imladris who are unwell.
The way that Lindir refers to Elrond as "My Lord Elrond" each time he makes mention of him, suggests a high level of esteem and even devotion to Elrond. (Typically, "Lord Elrond" or "My Lord" would be the norm.) This devotion, of course extends to Elrond's family as well, including wife and children. That Elrond allows him to be in charge of Imladris (such as when Gandalf and Thorin's company arrived) in his absence shows his trustworthiness and that he is a responsible person.
For an Elf, Lindir seems more anxious than most. What's obvious about Lindir is that he is uneasy around anything disorderly. When Thorin Oakenshield's company are guests in Elrond's house, Lindir finds their rowdy behavior unsettling and is disgusted by their throwing food. As a Steward he conducts himself with excellent manners, even when faced with the behavior of the Dwarves. He patiently stands in attendance at Elrond's side. Part of those manners include being well groomed and formal in his attire and bearing. He even enters reverie (that is, a meditative restful state) while sitting up in a high backed chair instead of laying down so he remains as neat as possible.
Lindir takes his duties as Steward seriously, almost to the point of obsession. He does his best to make sure that the household is running smoothly, and takes care of matters in the kitchens, finances, and oversees staff. He becomes easily flustered and somewhat upset when the conditions he had worked so hard to keep stable are changed. As such, he does not enjoy surprises, and surprise guests.
Attending to his duties also help him overcome his anxiety. He has no trouble ordering around the staff in Imladris, because that's his job. However, in a more social setting, Lindir is a bit hesitant to voice his opinion. Also, his sense of duty to Elrond is stronger than his anxiety. Since his in-game reason for coming to Blackstaff is at Elrond's suggestion (which Lindir takes as a command) he wouldn't leave until whatever appointed time Elrond had arranged.
During the Dwarven company's stay, Lindir expresses his concern to Elrond about the state of the kitchens, including that they were nearly out of wine. When he sees the Dwarves bathing in one of Imladris' fountains, he gives another look of apprehensive disgust.
On the odd chance that he actually does get to relax, he appears to enjoy the arts. Music and poetry especially. He enjoyed Bilbo's lengthy poem so much that he asked him to read it again. Because of Elvish naming patterns, it is likely that Lindir is an excellent singer, and has an appreciation for music. His preference though, is to sit on the sidelines rather than be in the spotlight, so he rarely displays his talent for song and lyric in a large group. He gets more joy of out listening than to taking part. While he does not play any instruments himself, he finds harp music soothing, as his mother was a well known harpist.
Abilities:
Basic Innate/Biological Elven Abilities
Strengths:
✔ Healing:
Lindir has fundamental knowledge of Elven healing. He is not an expert or a healer by profession, but knows a bit more than basic first aid. Severing under Elrond, who is an expert healer, he's picked a few things up.
✔ Singing, Poetry, and Lore:
Lindir's voice is considered fair even by Elf standards, and he's well versed in the lore of his world, particularly that which is present in poetry and song. He is also good at composing poetry or lyrics.
✔ Organizational Skills:
Lindir is the Steward of Imladris, which means he keeps the household organized and running smoothly. He oversees staff, the kitchens, and finances.
✔ Sense of Duty Loyalty:
Lindir is almost blindly loyal to Elrond, but can also form a loyalty for those who seem worthy of it. His sense of duty is also strong, and he will go above and beyond to fulfill any promises he makes, or responsibilities he's committed to.
Weaknesses:
✘ Swordsmanship & Fighting:
While Lindir has a basic theoretical knowledge of swordplay, he has never been in battle. More than likely, against another person he would be the losing partythat is, if he doesn't run away first. In hand to hand combat he is basically useless.
✘ Personality Flaws:
Prone to Anxiety, somewhat Easily startled, not good with change in routine, Unworldly and somewhat ignorant in other races of Middle-earth.
Companions: N/A
